Fifty people died after a gunman opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on March 15, 2019.

Less than a week later, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that the country will ban all types of semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles with new legislation in place by April.

"Our history changed forever. Now, our laws will too," the Prime Minister said in a press conference.
